Cataract

A cataract is clouding or opacity of the lens inside the eye.

Cataract usually develops over time and people may not become aware of blurring of the vision until the cataract becomes advanced. When a cataract is developing, you may notice that you need to change your glasses prescription more frequently.

Cataract Treatment

Cataract can be safely treated by cataract surgery. The operation is performed via small incision (wound). An ultrasound probe is used to soften and break up the cataract. An artificial lens is implanted in the place of the natural lens. Measurements to ensure the correct intraocular lens is selected for your eye are performed before the surgery. The wound is so small and often does not require stitches.

Procedures performed

  • Phacoemulsification and Intraocular Lens Insertion
  • YAG capsulotomy
